Hiring activity in India fell in the month of April amid a rising second wave of the Covid 19 pandemic and clampdowns in many states, according to data from leading job portal Naukri.com.

“The disruption caused by the second wave of Covid-19 has impacted the hiring activity…However, the current impact on the job market is less severe than what we saw in April 2020 where the Naukri JobSpeak index declined by 51% month-on-month,”

The demand for professionals in Teaching/ Education (-20%) and Sales/BD (-6%) roles saw a sequential decline. Hiring for ITES/BPO (0%) and Pharma/Biotech (+1%) roles saw a flat trend.
