The Plant Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and repairing all mechanical and electrical equipment in the briquette manufacturing plant to ensure uninterrupted production. This includes preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordinating with production teams to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
Role & responsibilities
Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance:
- Plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules for all briquette plant equipment (briquetting machines, dryers, conveyors, crushers, mixers, etc.).
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and resolve issues to minimize downtime.
2. Equipment Monitoring & Repairs:
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Maintain lubrication schedules and monitor wear and tear of machine parts.
3. Spare Parts & Inventory Management:
- Maintain inventory of critical spare parts and tools.
- Raise purchase requests for spares and ensure timely availability.
4. Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety standards and plant regulations.
- Implement Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) and other safety measures during repairs.
5. Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain maintenance logs, machine history records, and downtime reports.
- Report recurring issues and suggest process or design improvements to management.
6. Coordination:
- Work closely with the production team to schedule maintenance without affecting production targets.
- Coordinate with external vendors/service providers for major repairs or AMC.
Preferred candidate profile
- Education: Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in maintenance roles in a briquette plant, biomass plant, or similar manufacturing setup.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Briquetting machines, biomass dryers, conveyors, gearboxes, motors, bearings, and hydraulic systems.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems (motors, panels, wiring).
- Skills Required:
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Welding and fabrication (advantageous).
- Understanding of preventive maintenance systems.
