Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Design & Drafting
- Create high-quality 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings in SolidWorks for frames, beams, brackets, jigs, fixtures, and custom fabrication components.
- Prepare GA drawings, manufacturing drawings, and complete detailing with weld symbols, GD&T basics, tolerances, and accurate BOMs.
- Apply weldments, sheet-metal features, and assembly design principles effectively.
Documentation & Revision Control
- Generate clean and production-ready drawing packages.
- Maintain proper BOM control, revision management, and ensure ECNs are accurately updated and documented.
Shop-Floor & Production Support
- Provide clarification on fabrication drawings and resolve fit-up or assembly issues.
- Issue as-built drawings after shop-floor validation.
Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with vendors to clarify technical requirements, fasteners, materials, coating specifications, and manufacturing constraints.
Must-Have Skills
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (Parts, Assemblies, Drawings; exposure to Weldments/Sheet-Metal preferred).
- Ability to produce fabrication drawings that are clear, accurate, and easy for shop-floor teams to follow.
- Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals:
- Material specifications (e.g., IS 2062)
- Basic GD&T
- Fasteners and standard hardware
- 1–3 years of experience in fabrication, heavy engineering, or industrial product design.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Exposure to lifting and rigging structures (spreader beams, lifting beams, test rigs, material handling equipment).
- Basic AutoCAD ability for legacy drawings and updates.
- Experience with SolidWorks PDM or similar data management tools.
- Understanding of surface coatings (powder coating/painting), machining symbols, and basic QC checkpoints.
