Job description:

We are looking for an experienced Structural Draftsman with strong expertise in preparing drawings for lifting beams, spreader beams, lifting frames, and rigging plans. The ideal candidate must be proficient in 2D drafting, 3D modeling, and GD&T, with a solid understanding of fabrication and inspection requirements for below-the-hook lifting equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create 2D fabrication drawings and 3D models for lifting beams, spreader beams, lifting frames, and related lifting structures.
  • Prepare GA drawings, shop drawings, and assembly drawings with accurate detailing.
  • Develop rigging plans, lifting arrangement drawings, and load path diagrams.
  • Apply GD&T accurately for fabrication and machining drawings.
  • Generate BOMs (Bill of Materials), cutting lists, and hardware lists.
  • Provide precise detailing for lifting lugs, pad eyes, shackles, slings, hooks, and weld joints.
  • Coordinate with design engineers, fabrication teams, quality inspectors, and project engineers.
  • Update drawings based on client feedback, load test results, NCRs, and site requirements.
  • Maintain proper drawing numbering, revision history, and document control as per company standards.

Required Software Skills

  • AutoCAD – Mandatory
  • Proficiency in at least one 3D software: SolidWorks / Autodesk Inventor / Tekla Structures

Technical Skills Required

  • Strong knowledge of structural steel detailing and welded structures.
  • Experience in plate fabrication and machining drawings.
  • Proficiency in welding symbols, tolerances, fits, and fabrication notes.
  • Understanding of slings, shackles, hooks, turnbuckles, lifting points, and other rigging accessories.
  • Knowledge of sling angles, load directions, center of gravity (COG), and lifting configurations.
  • Ability to interpret basic load calculations, design sketches, and engineering inputs.
  • Practical understanding of manufacturing, inspection, and testing requirements for lifting equipment.

Education Qualification

  • Diploma / B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
  • Diploma / B.E / B.Tech in Production Engineering
  • Diploma / B.E / B.Tech in Structural / Civil Engineering

Experience Requirement

  • 2 to 4 years of drafting experience in lifting beams, spreader beams, lifting frames, or similar fabricated lifting structures.
